Virtual Art: Self-Care Vision Board

Shout out to Shannon and her self-care blog :)  I've used Polyvore for lots of things but I haven't experimented with it as a way to make a creative image in itself.  A collection, an idea board, an interesting collage...but never as an actual source of creative digital art making (until tonight).  I've been thinking about self-care all week and I'm brainstorming ways to bring it back into my life to hold balance and stay grounded since life doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon.

I created this image on polyvore.com as somewhat of a virtual sacred space.  A visual reminder of what I need in my life right now.  Each symbol, texture, color, and shape was chosen with intention around what keeps me happy and healthy.  I've got the image saved as my laptop background so I can be reminded of it each time I use my computer.

My mental and emotional space need some attention before I can get back to my physical living space (although they are all so deeply linked and reflective of one another).

Bedroom Colors

I'm still playing with the Sherwin Williams Color Visualizer I came across the other day.  This time I'm thinking about bedroom paint options.  I want calm, cool and clean.

Option 1: Bathe Blue

Option 2:  Grandview (more green)

Option 3: Classic French Gray (my favorite so far).

I want to decorate the bedroom with stark white and small pops of color.  I'm also planning on following this DIY Tutorial for a dandelion mural! Because of the dandelion I'm leaning towards option 3 at the moment.  Very breezy, simple and beachy.  Love it.

Sherwin-Williams Color Visualizer: Living Room & Kitchen

I've been playing with this free online program for about an hour now.  Sherwin-Williams lets you upload a picture of a room, use selection tools to label and identify walls, and then create a virtual make-over with different color palettes.

Here's a picture taken from the living room facing the kitchen/front door. I definitely want blue walls in the living room but I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with the kitchen/entrance area (please ignore that hideous wood panel in the center, I'll have to figure out what to do with that later).  Here are some options I was playing with...

Option 1:  Liquid Blue & Fun Yellow (very bold...and too much)

Option 2: Spa & Cucumber (getting closer...)

Option 3: Liquid Blue & Narcissus (almost there...)

I was pretty settled on something very similar to Option 3 because I like the clean, neutral feel of "Narcissus" and I think I like the placement of the neutral tone in contrast to the bright blue is nice.  I am still undecided on the brightness of the blue.  I don't want to go too bright but I also want it to be recognizable as blue.

Option 4: Tame Teal & Narcissus (my favorite so far...)

I am very open to feedback & suggestions so please leave those comments!

Polyvore

Have you heard of Polyvore?  It's an awesome place to make mood boards and find inspiration for collections of clothes, home decor, make-up, etc.  A little while back I put together this mood board to help guide me in incorporating items I already own into my new vision.  Many of these things (the lamp, the trunk, the tree jewelry stand) are items that I want to keep and incorporate into the newly re-vamped and brand new additions to my space.
